There have been a surge of vehicle accidents in the past years and i dread it every time i get to witness one on the roads here in my country. Water Puppet Show in Saigon

Sorry guys for not updating this blog for a while....

Anyway, the last i stopped at was this Bonsai Cruise which we sat. Next on my list will be this neat little "Water Puppet Show" which i recommend to all tourist going to Vietnam to at least see this show although the whole segment of this show is in traditional vietnamese language but one can still figure out what is happening in the background.

These little Puppets are man-handled by their masters behind the screen. Puppets are then waved in and out in the pool of water. I heard that its quite famous in the parts of Saigon and Hanoi, the stories are basically folklores enacted by the water puppets accompanied by musicians acting out the background voices, singing and at the same time playing the musical instruments which made the show more lively as well. Something everyone especially tourist will get to enjoy their local folklore music enacted by water puppets.

Bonsai Cruise in Saigon

Moving on, we went onboard a dinner cruise called the Bonsai Cruise. At first, i didn't think much of it, thinking that it could be just another cruise where we just makan and make merry with one another whilst onboard.

No, it was fun in this cruise, there is a buffet spread and a special band to entertain you. There are magicians there to entertain you as well, but the live performances were the real best highlight of the day.

These two gals dressed in beautiful costumes will dance with a cup of fire on their heads, next bamboo pole dancing as well. Quite interesting and all in all, it takes an hour plus before the food is finished and it arrives at the berth again. The cruise will sail around the bay of Saigon and comes back again. There are other cruises around too, but i still like this one that we hopped on. LOL...

Saigon, here i come

Moving on, we left for our next destination - Saigon. You repeat the same old procedure for checking in and then flying for less than an hour to Saigon by VN. When we reached Saigon, the guide gave us a slight commentary on this city and finally, we reached our hotel in the heart of the city - Caravelle Hotel, a five star property in District 1.

District 1 in Saigon is like Orchard Road to us, you will see LV, the other branded stores, espirit, etc....There are also cute little stores selling souvenirs and stuff that any tourist can just bargain and buy. But the fact is, you can always buy them at Ben Thanh Market where the prices are better and perhaps more variety. But beware, see one and you see all (all the stores are about the same and sell the same stuff)....LOL

One thing, i noticed that there seems to be alot of fastfood chain Pho (Vietnamese rice noodles) popping out from everywhere. I guess its a chain store and every tourist or the local people are also eating in the restaurant. We enjoyed our Pho alot and it was a nice little restaurant that can seat around below 50 pax with up and downstairs at the one that we went. Pho also comes with alot of vegetables which you can add into your hot bowl of Pho and i like mine coupled with lots of tou gay or beansprouts. You can also add in mint leaves and many other leaves which took your fancy as well. The Pho comes in either chicken, beef etc... and i like mine in beef stock.

Okay, enough of Pho. Tonight, we are taking the Bonsai Night Cruise which i will update later. Now, back to this hotel Caravelle, i love its five star location and its right in the heart of Saigon city. All the famous five star accommodations are within reaches, believe it or not, this hotel also have this hip little alfresco bar situated right at the top of this hotel called Saigon Bar. Any tourist or the locals can just go up and chill out in the comfy areas that this bar offers, its view are incredible and i guess if you bring your love ones, it will kinda feel romantic, i think. There are live bands as well playing in the night time and i believe alot of Angmohs patronise this place as well. I didn't come up to chill out though, coz i was shopping like a mad dog in the vicinity. I took a tour of the whole hotel's facilities, courtesy of Caravelle's management staff.

Caravelle hotel has all the usual facilities that any hotel can offer to its guest so i'm not gonna talk about their facilities here. But nonetheless, if you are looking for a five star accommodation and location, this hotel is one you mustn't miss out!

The restaurant that i visited in Vietnam

Food is one thing any Singaporean would love and rave about and so today, i'm gonna talk about these two favourite restaurants that i have visited during this trip.

Right after our Hoi-an Day trip, we went to this restaurant named Nam Long which serves authentic Vietnamese Cuisine. At first we were alfresco dinning under the stars and near the sea but because it started drizzling, we were quickly shifted into the inside of the restaurant.

I like the interior decoration of the restaurant which gives you the fusion kind of ambience, the food that is served, we finished every single morsel of it. Not only were the food delicious but also served very creatively. (creatively is a understatement...)

This restaurant was along the way to Mekong Delta in a nice big restaurant. Its a open air restaurant with big fans blowing from the roof-top area. The food served here is very delicious as well, amongst all the food that was served, the Elephant Ear Fish (it looks like a elephant ear when its fried)is the speciality here in this area.

The whole fish is thrown into the hot oil wok and fried to perfection. When i say - whole fish, it means with the scales still intact on its body. I've seen this on TV but the taste of the fish is so soft and tender that any TV show just cannot tell you about it! And so, i urge you my readers to go and try it yourself when you sign up a tour to Vietnam, especially going towards the Mekong Delta Area to ask for this fish...LOL

Hoian Old Town

Now, lets talk about the places that you can visit while you are in Danang. Of course, no doubts about it, you can always opt to fly to their next nearest destinations like Hue. But for us, we traveled to a nearby town called Hoian Old Town. Hoian Old Town is a nice place to visit if you have the time to spare, you should stay in one of their neat hotels around this place.

Hoian Old Town is a very unique place where you will find concentrations of architectural monuments of various forms like living house, assembly hall, communal house, pagoda, shrine, temple, water well, bridge, market, wharf...preserved intact. To visit old town, you'll need to pay an admission fee of US5 which is used to preserve and maintain this area. I see alot of tourist around the area either walking or riding a bicycle around here.

There are also many unique restaurants which has preserved their old building structures which i took some pictures as well. When night fall, the old town comes to live with the many beautiful lanterns that all the houses have, hanging outside their front doors. So beautiful that you would want to bring one back as well, but i didn't buy any, i just like to admire them from afar...

PS - as there is alot of walking to do once you are inside the old town, i recommend, you bring along some comfortable footwear and also lost of souvenir shops as well for your shopping too.

PPS - If you are fond of tailoring your suits either for the ladies or gents, this place is the perfect place for your tailor needs, i heard its cheaper than Danang itself.

Furama Danang Resort

Furama Danang Resort is the most nicest resort/hotel that anyone could imagine when you are in Danang, boastng a five start resort emblem at the front of the resort entrance, its visitors are in for a relaxed and exotic stay with this resort.

Expect to be pampered by massages, with two swimming pool, one for the lover of nature - nestled within the gardens, you will find yourself swimming in the shades of trees and plants. While the other is the lover of the sun - right under the sun can, anyone opting for this is in for a hot suntan body....:D However, the view from this swimming pool is gorgeous and right after this swimming pool, you can run out into the open sea. And there you have it : Two in One

Massage was great, i tried their 1hour Vietnamese massage which was quite good and requested a guy to massage my body. Oops, he is full of strength and really massages you and at the end of the day, your muscles really feel the aches, but i'm loving it.
Massage parlour can done individually or in couples too. There is even one that you can opt to do it in the nature, i saw one ang moh guy having his massage and took a photo. Muahahaha!

My room has a garden facing view. Lots of goodies are laid on the table for its travelers, i had a platter of fruits, sweets waiting in a rickshaw for me. Big spacious toilets that you can open its windows into the room. It even comes with a balcony and there is where i took a photo of the above ang moh guy...

Lastly, the food is marvelous, its called Indochine Restaurant but not managed by the Indochine group in Singapore. I like their buffet breakfast, lots of variety to choose from, the group and i just love their Pho or flat noodles of the Vietnamese. It comes with lots of veg and herbs and served in a soup base with the flat noodles. On top of that, there are even sushi for BF also.

Of course, it includes many other amenities to spoil any travelers staying with them. Maybe, if i get married, i will come here for my honeymoon...Muahahahaha, cheap mah!
My stay with Furama Danang Resort was fantastic and i believe i brought back with me sweet memories and would love to visit them again...hopefully.

Vietnam airlines vs Silkair - Destination - Vietnam

In my recent fam trip to Vietnam namingly Danang and Saigon, i think i have fallen in love with Danang. Its a quiet sea-surrounding province, not alot of tourist or people around you or maybe coz we are all staying in a five star resort and hence, there isn't so much tourist around you! But heck, i'm loving it the more...

Today, my blogpost will be starting off of me going for this particular fam trip to Vietnam (3rd world country). I was abit uptight about their food hygiene coz i've been to Vietnam 10 over years ago and have suffered ~~lao sai~~ stomach problems even when i ate at a local Singaporean opened food court in one of their malls and hence abit skeptical and fearing that i will lose out again in the hygiene battle coz food in Vietnam is ~~damn~~ really good and tasty, not savouring them is really a waste, i stocked up some Lomotil and bao ji wan with me. But 10 over years has passed and Vietnam has really improved on its water quality and hence, go on and EAT all you can if you were to visit Vietnam today! (Note : Not for the faint-hearted and try not to eat on those road side food...:D)

Some tips for my dear readers if you were to go to Vietnam and its surrounding provinces for a holiday. There is this airline called SILKAIR (subsidiary of Singapore Airlines) which also flies to exotic destinations like Vietnam but flies to certain parts of Vietnam like Danang Province. But as this was a sponsored trip and the co-sponsoring airline is Vietnam Air, we had no choice but to follow the itinerary faithfully. The problem is that once you've reached Vietnam, you have to board a domestic flight to Danang. Well, 10 over years ago, its used to be the same terminal but now it seems like Vietnam has upgraded and built a domestic airport for its domestic passengers. Passengers have to clear International immigration, collect your baggages and proceed to the domestic terminal which is in another block. I question that this is really a hassle especially if you're bringing the old and young ones along this trip. It would be a nightmare, don't you think so? This routine can really ~~kill~~ made one suffer just to travel into Vietnam's other provinces. Another note is that why can't they just transfer our baggages and tag it straight to our ending destination, it will save passenger's time and efforts to pick it up and bringing it again to check-into their domestic airport again. Okay, maybe its my nagging, but if you think it over, it will resolve the issues of passengers not wanting to take Vietnam airlines but switching over to their competitors.

and i'm thinking that i'm gaining the extra kilos every-time i sniff food onboard Star Cruise. There is so much food that one can eat and enjoy, there is a few restaurants that one can opt to go, and as for me and my gang, we opt to eat for the supper time and mid-night snack time.

You may ask, why go for two suppers at one go? Its simple, the supper time food is just normal kind of food that you can find anywhere, but the mid-night snack is the one anyone can just die for. Its Buffet Chocolate snack, YUMMY...., different kinds of cakes, pastries align the buffet bar and one just can't resist those tempting chocolates, CAN.

Anyway, this blogpost kinda of sum up my experience onboard Star Cruise Aquarius. The next day, we woke up early to view the sunset, but was quite dismayed as there were lots of clouds surrounding the sky and hence, no sun is rising up. Anyway, i bought some souvenirs and left the cruise with some happy moments to bring back with me!

My Cruise Adventure begins...

after such a long time....hehehe. I was invited once again to join Star Cruise Aquarius for a fam trip in April 2008 with a couple of my colleagues as well. I shared room with one of my co-workers and lucky for me, this fellow doesn't snores..LOL.

Star Cruise Aquarius has been here for a while catering to 3-4day trips and even a one night trip as well. We were invited for a one night trip leaving the Singapore port on Thursday late afternoon. We were pretty excited and heard that there is this mid-night dessert where you can have chocolates for as much as you like. Erm, my tummy is gone, from six to one, with all those sugar, haiz.

Coupled with good company and fun environment, it was a trip that i was longing for. As i didn't have a chance to take a cruise with them, this was a time for me to enjoy . Once onboard Star Cruise, we were given a orientation of this cruise, all its restaurants, gym, entertainment area, casino and lastly its cabins. There are different types of cabins available for the guest and as long as you can afford it, there are even executive suites as well.

My colleagues and i decided to enjoy ourselves at the Karaoke lounge. The songs were quite up-to-date and we were quite happy with their services as well, though, we waited for some time for our turn to sing, overall it was enjoyable. Then, we even had a Karaoke competition where we pitted our singing skills and my colleague got the first prize. It was a ~~Gold~~ medal, engraved with the words - first prize singing competition. I even took a photo with it as well. LOL...:D

The two best thing to do in Hongkong!

The two best thing one can do in my opinion has to be shopping and more shopping in Hongkong and of course makan (eating).

I kinda fell in love with the desserts that the Hongkongers were selling. These little shop fronts sell the best Shu Liu Shan - the best ice shavings coupled with real tasty and sweet mangoes. There are many variations of the dessert, try one if you happen to be in Hongkong, especially during those hot summer months. A mouthful of those will keep you happy and glad that you are out of that nasty heat. As i was there during the month of January, it was still very cold, but nevertheless, i still opt to eat those ice shavings and during my four days stint, i ate twice there, kekeke.

The next best thing to do in Hongkong is.....you guess correctly...shopping. I bought loads of bags, a pair of shoes, souvenirs from Hongkong as well. Spent around SIN700 and still not enough...want to go back again for their Summer Sale (winks) kekeke...

This is my last post that i will be doing for this Hongkong farm trip. My our last day's itinerary covered this place called the "Hongkong Wetland Park" Its situated at Tin Shui Wai, New Territories, mainly to create a world-class conservation, education and tourism facility.

I guess their mission is to foster public awareness, knowledge and understanding of the inherent values of wetlands throughout the East Asian region and beyond, and to marshal public support and action for their conservation.

Fees start from HKD30 per adult and HKD15 for either child, student or seniors. Its really something like a combination of our Singapore Science Centre, Discovery Centre all put into one. One can roam freely in their in-door centre and out-door centre but due to the very cold weather, we ventured out a little and quickly came back to the main building again. Here, you can also see their "Celebrity Animal" - Pui Pui aka crocodile. The Hongkies managed to catch this crocodile in their country after much funfare and fuss. As Hongkong do not have crocodiles breeding in their country hence Pui Pui was special to them and the Hongkong government decided to put it inside this specially made big transparent tank for Pui Pui for display into the Wetland Park.

After all the walking, finally its some shopping time, there is a small souvenir shop inside the Wetland Park. I bought a Pui Pui Mini Tote Bag for myself as a souvenir of this place that i've come to enjoy and will surely recommend it to my clients as well for a fun time of learning and enjoying the great natural environment here that Hongkong has made for its visitors to enjoy.

Disneyland, Ngong Ping 360

This day as i wake up, i feel my vines and blood inside me flowing magically. Not that i wasn't flowing normally in the past, but thinking of visiting Disneyland in Hongkong just makes me feeling happier and gay.

This day the weather man says that the temperature in these areas will be a very low of below 10 degrees Celsius. Heck, i don't care what the weather man says, i just wanna go and enjoy myself and find out more what Disneyland Themepark has to offer these days to tourists. As today's itinerary is jam packed with places of interest to visit, we will only get to reach Disneyland at around 3pm. Our first stop - Ngong Ping 360. Its a stunning cable car journey providing you with breathtaking views of North Lantau and the South China Sea. After the 30mins cable car ride, we reached Ngong Ping Village, a pleasant and open culturally themed, Chinese-style village, located next to the world's tallest, seated, outdoor bronze Buddha, called the Tian Tan Buddha Statue. It was freaking cold when we were traveling up the cable car but its all worth the visit when we get to savor the delicious vegetarian food and the two audio-visual walk through presentation with themed scenes of the "Walking with BUDDHA and "Monkey's tale THEATRE". We were practically bathed in the fog but all in all it was a fun experience. Here are some photos that i took...

Next, we head on to our vegetarian lunch nearby. Ummmmm, the food here is good and service is prompt. No complains or whatever over here, we were really glad that we can seat and enjoy our food while the cold weather outside continues on. After lunch, we quickly freshen up and proceeded for our next destination - Disneyland. We have to board the cable car to get down to the foot and proceed from there by our coach.

We arrived just in time for our next hotel inspection at the Disneyland Hollywood hotel and Disneyland Hotel. Our first stop - Disneyland Hotel which features 400 guest rooms set in a lush and relaxing landscape of gardens. Its very much Victorian style with its own inhouse restaurant that will tantalize any taste-buds. I heard, you are not allowed to wear slippers in and around the hotel as it will spoil their hotel's image. Kinda strict! I didn't really liked this hotel, it gives me the too posh feeling and the price of the rooms are expensive as well. Definitely, not for a cheapo like me. kekeke.... :D The next hotel that we inspected as well has to be the Disneyland Hollywood hotel. This hotel boasts around 600 guest rooms in a u-shaped building surrounding an expensive lawn. This hotel will truly make every guest feel like a star as they immerse themselves in the history and glamour of motion pictures. It includes the normal amenities too for their guest staying with them. Honestly speaking, i love this hotel better than the other one coz' its really down to earth and whats more even the rooms are decorated with Mickey and Minnie as well, adult and child alike can dream better in these rooms allocated to them, don't you think so?

The tickets were sponsored by Disneyland Hongkong and off we went for an afternoon of fun and excitement. I took alot of camwhoring pictures with Mickey and Minnie, so do bear with me....kekeke....:D
As it was nearly CNY08 and coincidentally, its also the year of the Rat, Mickey's house was on display which you don't see every time. The rides that i enjoyed most has to in "Tomorrowland" called Space Mountain and "Adventureland" while you take the Jungle River Cruise together with your skipper along the mysterious Rivers of Adventure. Lastly, the grand spectacular event - the Fireworks display just on top of the Sleeping Beauty Castle. As it was still winter time, the park's closing hour was around 7pm, we quickly took the photos that we wanted and after the fireworks display, headed back to our hotel. We tried taking the MTR and it was quite fun as even the train cabin was decorated with Disney characters as well. I came back to my hotel exhausted but happy and surely, i will sweet dreams tonight!

After our camwhoring with the Wax Museum stars, we quickly headed for our next destination - Lamma Island. It was a half an hour ride to the private pier where we board the Restaurant's ferry which will bring us to the restaurant that HKTB is gonna host us this afternoon.

Heard that for this lunch, we are gonna have Lobsters, Crabs, Prawns and many more seafood dishes all lined up for us to enjoy. And of course, the owner of this restaurant would like us to go back and hopefully bring back good memories of this place and bring more guests to enjoy lunch with them here. Hence, the whole package deal here of letting or hosting us here for lunch. I really dun mind it at all, as long as it fills my stomach and taste nice.

In order to get there, the restaurant has sent for its private ferry transfer to bring us across to Lamma Island. As to what i know, Chow Yuen Fatt (HKG Actor)was born from this beachside area and it seems like more and more tourists and locals will come and enjoy a good meal of seafood dishes here especially during summer time. It was really cold this day of the month of January but our spirits were high when we or I thought of the seafood dishes which we are gonna try later.

When we were there, we really had a sumptuous seafood lunch and i really adore those lobsters that i ate there. They were really sweet and lots of food there are good as well. Rainbow Seafood Restaurant not only serves the best and also award winning seafood lunch around this area but also caters to the Lamma Fisherfolk's Village which is about 10mins ferry to this village. They boasts the only place in Hongkong that preserves the local fisherfolk culture and history of the fishery industry here. After lunch, we headed to this village to have a look and we were pretty amazed on how organised the whole area is. They have fishing games, tours to bring around the fishing boats that the olden time fisherman will use and how they basically live their lives in the fishing boat.

The bunch of us tried out the fishing game and it was really quite fun and we enjoyed it despite of the cold weather. There is even a local souvenir shop for you to buy back like sea-shells and etc...

All in all, we enjoyed our lunch and trip to this restaurant and fishing village and will definitely recommend our clients back here again!

The next morning, rise and shine and got ready to start our second day of the itinerary which my organiser has prepared for us. Altogether, there were 7 agents including me that participated in this program and just to refresh your memory, i won this fam trip when i attended a HKG workshop back in Singapore last year.

We had breakfast at the hotel and then we set off for The Peak Tower. We took a ferry across to Central and then took a bus no. 15C from the Central (Pier 7) to The Peak Tram Station. It was a lovely day and everybody was looking forward to the Peak Tram that we are supposed to take that will bring us up to the Peak Tower. It was pretty cold then and i bought a cotton wrap cap from Quiksilver and a scarf from Bossini as well to protect my Botak Head and my neck too from the cold winds.

A little intro to The Peak Tram since they were so nice to host us and gave us FOC for the trip up to The Peak Tower. This Tram is one of the world's oldest and most famous funicular railways which opened to the public in month of May 1888. Once, we were up at The Peak Tower, we were astonished at how much this place has to offer to its tourists. There are plenty of F&B outlets, Shops, EA Experience and today our special highlight - Madame Tussauds.

I've read and seen brochures on Madame Tussauds but have yet been to its compound and today, this organised trip offered by HKTB can really make my dream come thru'. Its actually a wax museum with celebrities look alike wax statues posing in the background. Hence, any tourist can just buy a ticket and come in and take a photo of your favourite celebrity star. There are so many of them, that i have lost count already. Some famous ones will be David Beckham, Jackie Chan, Leon Lai, Andy Lau and many many more... the list just goes on and on. It has a very big compound, you'll go crazy looking, posing with your favourite stars and you'll just lose track of time and space. We took this opportunity and CAMWHORED with the celebrity wax statues. Being a geeky me, i also took some very funny shots, do enjoy with me as i recall the funny moments of my life together with a celebrity star (hey, when was your last time, that you took with a celebrity? kekeke) After that, i bought some souvenirs too for a fun memory of my time with the stars here,:D...

After checking into the L'Nina Hotel and camwhoring the rooms, i quickly freshen up and got ready to meet up with the rest of the gang for our hosted dinner by HKTB counterparts in HKG. It was a nice chinese restaurant in downtown HKG (Tsim Sha Tsui), quite near to the Avenue of Stars, in fact, its a stones throw from our restaurant. Our guide anticipating that we would want to have more time shopping in this part of town and hence quickly showed us around the Avenue of Stars which was also part of our itinerary. I like the pyro technique lights that played along the whole stretch of the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront promenade.

Even the vessels that passed by also have beautiful lights attached to it, adding more live and colours onto the beautiful Pyro Technique Lights displayed that was displayed. We didn't waste any time, we CAMWHORED... hahaha...

Tis Post begins my Hongkong Trip...

which i enjoyed it so much not without the help of HKTB (in short for Hongkong Tourism Board and Cathay Pacific Airways) for making this Hongkong Trip of mine come true. This trip started from the 28 till 31 January 2008. It was still very cold when we visited some tourist spots which i will blog along the way and you'll definitely agree with me on it. I've heard that in 10 years time, Hongkong will not have this kind of winter season anymore, so folks, if you are into winter season, come and feel the vibrant city of Hongkong in the winter times before its gone.

HKTB has hooked us up with L'Nina hotel which is situated in Tseun Wan which is pretty near to the HKG airport. We checked into this 5star property and gosh.... I was almost fainted and shouted with glee... It has the most amazing view from the location of my room which is facing the ocean and wait check this out... a transparent glass screen that separates out room from the toilet. The 5star toilet has a huge white bathtub, two cubicles - one for standing shower and the other for you to sit down to do your business. I've been to a few places around the world but nothing can beat this yet classy and modern feeling of this room in L'Nina. I've heard that there is a story on the owner of this hotel whom has passed away, something on some guy whom is fighting for control of this hotel property, can't remember the exact story though... hahah :D

The grand Finale, end of our Surat Thani and Koh Samui Trip!

Today is the last day of our journey to Surat Thani and Koh Samui with the folks travelling with me. Our first stop was to visit the Monkey Training School which basically teach monkeys to do their masters bidding. A trainer will be allocated to the monkeys and thus training begins. The owners will bring their monkeys that they've bought and bring them here to be trained by the trainers. It was quite educational and interesting how the trainers go about their daily routines where they train these monkeys to go up the coconut tree to pick the coconuts, how to untie the knots that is created whilst climbing those trees just in case, it get tangled together. Even teaching those monkeys to go underwater just in case those coconuts dropped into the river, it was a eye-opener for all of us there and especially the children enjoyed it very much. After every training, we the audiences will clap and cheer for the monkeys and although it was raining, the monkey and the trainer relentlessly performed for us. It was really a sight to behold. I was really glad that we came to watch this performances although it was raining cats and dogs again.

OKAY, enough of monkey business...Next, SHOPPING.....one of we the Singaporean favourite past-time. We alighted at this Tesco Lotus Shopping Mall for a final round of shopping before we head back to the restaurant for our final dinner before we board our flight back to Singapore.

Oh, i forgot to introduce the female Artiste that followed us throughout the trip. She is Ms Jin Ying Ji (we all call her Jin Jie). She is one funny lady, she sings and dance like there is no tomorrow with her high pitch voice. She sang us a duet with one of our passengers during our din. Before, she travelled with us, she was telling me that she will be bring two big suitcases to bring back all the shopping that she has done here in Surat Thani (oh dear, poor me will be AH SUM, carrying those suitcases for her), but it ended well, all our passengers was happy to have joined this trip. From our conversation with her although she may be a artiste, she doesn't really have "Airs" to show or maybe she is already pass her fame time but she is down to earth and willing to just chat up with you and teach you one or two things about life itself. She is indeed full of life experiences and one definitely can learn many things from her...(hey, you don't get that kind of advice nowadays...but i think my mum does...or is it called nagging...)

We had delicious Seafood lunch when we reached Surat Thani in the afternoon of Day 2.

We had such a good buffet dinner in the resort that we are staying at, a big thank you to Natural Health Wing Resort & Spa in Koh Samui. Everyone of us, enjoying our food tremendously.

And again, our trip brought us to yet another Seafood Village in Surat Thani, very authentic, location by the sea, a few sampans around the pier but i must say its good food, good ambience altogether.

I will never forget my this trip with my fellow tour mates. It was really worth leading this trip to Koh Samui!

I indulged myself in the "Sponsored SPA Packages" that the owner of this beautiful resort "Natural Wing Health SPA Resort" has offered to me during my stay in this beautiful placed called Koh Samui. And since the beautiful owner whom doesn't look old for her age (maybe because she has the best of both worlds, food and spa packages that she can choose from daily, hahaha) has kindly sponsored me to have a relaxing SPA that she thought will be good for me to experience and hence go back and sell for her lah...

After choosing the SPA packages which best suits your needs (I chose the Hot Stone Spa package), you need to proceed to choose the type of oil essences that you like. My gosh, there were so many to choose from, i chose Ylang Ylang. It has a sweet smell and calming effect of putting oneself into dreamland which i think i needed most right at that moment. :D

After that, its straight to the massage room. Hot stones are then gently rubbed along those vital points in your body, thus creating that sensation of warmth and nice feeling spreading through your body and by using the essential oil of Ylang Ylang, i guess its a perfect combination for me. It lasted for over an hour and i could feel myself revitalised and ready to go the next lap again. :DDD

Samui Amanda Resort

This resort was the other place where my over colleague and guest stayed at. In the morning, we went over together with my Camera man and vehicle which was a 10mins drive from our resort.

This resort is completely a different feel in it. See the pictures and you will definitely agree with me. There is really nothing to compare with, as both resorts has their own established clients and loyal supporters. The resort that i'm putting up is a SPA cum Resort feeling whereby this resort has the beachside resort or holiday chalet feeling.

It also comes with all the amenities that any resort offers, a SPA Massage centre, a restaurant, many chalet type rooms, swimming pool etc. Its a local three star resort and i heard that they are undergoing renovations and when its reopened to the public, it will have a local four star standing.

Hmm, smells good, breakfast at this resort is also superb. Most of my guest staying at this resort has no complains or whatever. Only thing, its a bit far from the Chaweng Beach Area. If one is to get out of this resort, one will have to hire a taxi or the resort's in-house shuttle service to bring you to Chaweng Area. Hence, i thought this is the only negative point on its location. (Traveling distance is around half an hour to get oneself to Chaweng Beach Area)

These two resorts which i saw during my Hotel Inspection is also worth any visitors coming and residing and using their facilities in them. The grandest Muang Resort & Spa is really quiet and peaceful in the day time, hence good for any honeymoon couples whom can just find the perfect solace and hide away enjoying one anothers company. Muang Resort of all the resort that i've been on the island boasts the best and biggest reception hall and very kind reception staff whom gave us a glass of cold water to drink while we rested at one of sofas nearby.

The next resort which is of special mention in my blog here has to be Lyara Beach Hotel & Plaza. Located in Chaweng beach area too, it is a boutique hotel to me but yet has all the amenities that a tourist can look for. Especially like the Cabana Rooms facing the swimming pool, sailor colours inside the room and the roof just shoots up like a cone, i immediately fell in love with the structure of the room-type which is also on the ground floor. Very accessible to the beach and swimming pool and one can even do some shopping at some of the boutiques located to the front of the Hotel.

Chaweng Regent Beach Resort

This resort is also one of those which i will also recommend to tourist and visitors alike. If you are yearning for action be it sea sports or nightlife, this is a nice resort to reside and to start with.

The Chaweng Regent Beach Resort is in the middle of all the nightlife that you can find here in Koh Samui. Towards the night, you can hear the loud music played along the seashore of the Chaweng Beach area. What i like about this resort is that their restaurant is based facing the sea and the lounge too. Hence, any couple seeking a night out don't have to go far as the resort offers just that for their in-house residents, sip red wine and dine in their restaurants and listen to the waves sweeping up onto the shore whilst listening to the soft music (if you can hear, btw, the loud music will already be playing). I already can feel the pamperness when i did a hotel inspection with the friendly Front Desk Manager.

As for the rooms, they come basically with the normal amenities that any resort will offer. Look to their website for more details.

Amari Palm Reef Resort & Spa at Koh Samui

As promised, this will be a start of a few resorts/hotel that i thought was worth a visit or stay and be pampered too while on a vacation at the following resorts which i took time during my busy schedule to do a hotel inspection. Amongst the many resort that i did a inspection, this resort named Amari Palm Reef Resort & Spa is by the far the best resort i've come by while in Koh Samui.

Rooms were comfortable to stay in with basic amenities provided for any family to enjoy themselves here, while be treated to good hospitality by the staff of Amari, you will be pampered like nothing else matters. I've attached some of the resort pictures for your viewing pleasures. Although the resort is further from the bustle and hassle of the night life of Chaweng Beach, i guess tourist and visitors can have a peaceful meal or a good quiet stay here. But if you want all the night life, its still within reachable distances. What i did was that i took the route by the beach and from there, you can access the night street stalls, the pubs, etc....

Next, has to be the restaurant which i'm so eager to introduce to you folks out there, remember to pop in and try their italian dishes here at Prego. Authentic italian dishes whipped up by the chefs and its the best in Koh Samui, which all visitors and tourists will agree on, so when you come by Koh Samui, remember to visit Prego at Amari Palm Reef Resort & Spa

Breakfast & Health SPA Treatment

Breakfast over at the Resort is superb. There is a variety of food and scramble eggs too. On top of that, the resort has arranged their speciality dish which is porridge cooked with different types of nuts. It said that its good for the body and this food is cooked for their guest especially those whom have come over to their resort to try on their SPA facilities. What i learnt from the owner of the resort is that before their guest starts on the Health SPA Massage arrangement, they will arrange them to go for a doctor's check-up. Once certified fit and all the health and fitness is recorded, they will then start them on the Health SPA which is tailored according to their health records (also depending on how many weeks they are spending their time at the resort, a suitable plan will be drawn out for the individual).

The owner of the SPA resort gave me a complimentary HOT STONE SPA which i must say is quite good. It was for a duration of 1 and a half hours HOT STONE together with some traditional massages with the HOT STONE. One can feel a hot sensation rubbing against those tired joints and muscles, just what i needed after a long day of walking and shopping along the famous Chaweng Area. I bought a few T-shirts and have checked out a few other resorts along Chaweng Beach. Maybe in my next post, i will try to do some resort recommendations to my readers here.

The Resort that i stayed in at Koh Samui

This resort that we stayed in for half of my guest is called Natural Wing Health Spa & Resort. From my first impression, i think Asian like us may not like the idea of the jungle surrounding us and engulfed in the nature environment here! I guess it will be very attractive for Europeans and Americans. The rooms that were allocated to me was spacious and nice, like a little cottage style living. It boasts a small gym, a small size swimming pool but the one thing which it is proud of has to be their in-house SPA Massage facilities. The owner has won many awards and setting up this resort with this theme in mind. Tourist from everywhere will call and enquire on their SPA and other Massages which mind you, it doesn't come cheap as well. The resort has it own formulae for their in-house SPA and massage and a package as well for those tourist tailored for their needs. Once anyone steps into this tranquil place, one can forget about the rat race and indulge in the tailored packages provided by the resort and even special health meals as well will be thrown in to help in your tailored health regime.

The next day morning, some of my guest even joined the Tai zi organised by the resort. This exercise is organised by a skilled instructor and is for all their resort guest to participate free of charge. I had a chance to try it out myself before heading for a hearty breakfast at the resort.

If i were to come back to Koh Samui again, i really don't mind to come back and stay at this resort again! For your information, this resort could be far from Chaweng Beach (half an hour car ride, the resort also provides shuttle service with a nominal fee), where all the activities are, but heck!!! If one is trying to be away from the bustle and hassle of life, this is the place to be, trust me!

Our group's next destination - Big Buddha located at the Northern shore. Big icon of Koh Samui where you can't missed it at all. Pretty huge statue of a golden Buddha resting on top of a flight of steps. One has to climb this flight of steps before you can reach the top and have a bird's eye view of the northern shore from here. When we reached Big Buddha, it was drizzling and strong winds can be felt when we were at the top, but it was worth the climb!

Good and cheap BBQ Food

I had to take a picture of this BBQ food that was selling along the many street stalls that we happen to pass by en-route to Grandfather and Grandmother rock. The grandfather and grandmother rock was the next tourist destination that we went after visiting the majestic Nanmuang Waterfall. From the travel magazines that we saw footage of the rocks itself, you definitely have to come and witness it yourself. I heard there is a old legend or story that is tied to these two mysterious rock formation that resembles the male and female genitals.

This was a love story of a young gentleman whom belongs to one of the villages on this beautiful island. Although alot of women came to like him because of his good looks, he did not fancy anyone of them, then when he met this lady whom was from the opposite island, he immediately fell in love and knew that this was the lady whom he is destined to marry. The day came when the bridegroom has to take a boat out to receive the bride, but the boat that carried the young man capsized and he was nowhere to be found. The bride was waiting impatiently on the other side of the island and seeing that her bridegroom till late did not come to fetch her thought that he has decided not to marry her, she later went into the sea and was never seen again too. The old parents of this young man was devastated and refusing to acknowledge that their son has died waited aimlessly for his return by the seaside, soon the aged parents became the rocks and there you are the grandfather and grandmother rock formation.

When one is coming to this tourist location, you will see some small stalls selling food, drinks and even a small mini bar. Here are the pixs, enjoy...

Come see Nanmuang Waterfall

This waterfall is a beauty, one that i've seen so far till today. Its magnificent view although from the sideway when i took the pix had already left a impression on me. Water was just coming down in a splash and i must say its the beauty of the water sparkling and seem to be dancing its way down. In the midst of this waterfall, its surrounded by a dense jungle or rainforest. Its pretty cool while one walks along the man-made pavement up to the watefall spot. Along the way, there are some hawkers selling their wares, most of my passenger landed up buying coconuts from the local vendors to drink.

While our coaches parked, we could see lots of elephants chained to the pole waiting for someone to rescue them from their evil plight (ha ha ha, just joking). The elephants are used to give those tourist whom wants to try a elephant ride. I took a picture of the baby and adult elephants.

Someone you can trust when overseas

Kudos to my land operator - SEETHO TRAVELS whom have organised this beautiful trip for my company. They have a fleet of coaches used in that area of Thailand and with a couple of strong and professional tour guides as well. With SEETHO TRAVELS, one can feel at ease, be it you are the guest or customer, they will take care of you throughout the trip and make sure that everyone enjoys themselves. The thing that i enjoyed most has to be the good food that SEETHO TRAVELS has arranged. I still remember that the boss said that if the customers are still not full, they can reorder the dishes without paying a single cent which will be paid by SEETHO TRAVELS, hence with this in mind, it seems that everyone enjoyed their meals there.

There was even this occassion which i saw and can be a witness too. This group of passenger around six of them sharing in one table, requested to try the chilli crabs and SEETHO TRAVELS gave them this extra complimentary dish of chilli crabs on the house (which was absorbed by SEETHO TRAVELS). Ferry from Surat Thani to Koh Samui Island

The next day, we woke up early to board our coach down to Surat Thani Ferry Pier. It was a good weather when we were leaving the hotel after our breakfast, but soon when we board our ferry across, it started to rain. It was a three storey high Seatran ferry that could also ferry over both humans and vehicles as well. As it was a rainy weather, the wind was quite strong at the upper deck. It took us around one and a half hour from our hotel to the pier and then another two hours from the pier across to Koh Samui Pier. All of us were pretty excited on this journey and i took some pixs of this gigantic ferry as well.

P.S - I will be attending a business trip in Hongkong on Monday till Thursday, i will post again when i'm back...

Surat Thani Province, Thailand

On the 6th December 07, i went to lead a group of passenger of 116 including myself, another of my fellow colleague and lastly a local tv artiste - Ms Jin Ying Ji. It was rather exciting for me and the trip just kept my adrenaline pumping, as there were things to be decided and fixed at the last minute and the problem is - passenger do not understand, they tend to complain and as tour leaders, we try out utmost best to humour and contain that negative energy often smiling away even though we are angry inside of us, but its our job to entertain the folks in this trip and off we go....

Our first stop - Surat Thani Province, Thailand. Its the gateway to the beautiful and yet magnificent Koh Samui. But before we head for that beautiful paradise island, our plane which is the SILK AIRLINES landed in the airport of Surat Thani Province. Some folks may ask us, why are we landing in Surat Thani Province and not at Koh Samui Island since there is a international airport situated on that island. Its pretty simple, the Koh Samui International Airport was built by Bangkok Airways and hence any air traffic wanting to borrow its airport to land will not be granted approval at all, as it only wants its sole monopoly of its airport or shall we say, exclusively for Bangkok Airways passengers only. And hence, we can only gain traffic to land at the nearest island - Surat Thani Province.

When we landed, we went straight to our hotel - Diamond Hotel which is a local 3 star hotel standard for the night before venturing into Koh Samui. Hooray.............and yipee............I won the prize of this sponsored trip to Hongkong this coming January 2008. Firstly, all the participants went through a round of test which consist of a 40 questionnaire paper organised by the Hongkong Tourism Board. It was a open book test and myself and another co-worker attended this workshop.

I scored 38 out of 40 and same goes for my co-worker as well. Altogether, there were 10 slots available for this sponsored trip to Hongkong. Nine of the highest score were selected and only left myself and my co-worker, we had a round of draw and i had the winning ticket. I was very pleased with myself that i finally was able to make it to sit in front of my television to watch the travel show which was telecasts on once a week in my country. This time round, the television crew was at Spain. The guide went on to bring the television crew to some very beautiful restaurants, which was around 200 years old, which was certified by the local tourist organisation. The food that the guide has shown, a suckling piglet over a barbecue fire really looked sweet and tender, you can almost hear the crunchy sound of the barbecued meat. I happen to bump into Mediacorp Artiste Bryan Wong 's blog. I kinda of being attracted to him, (meaning not physical but over his writings and describing his life and such) i love his blog entry over Tasmania, Australia.

He was blogging away in his entry about his recent trip over to Tassie and he brought a group of 45 passengers with him. This was a promotional programme with him as a tour leader in "My Tour Leader is a Star" with Chan Brothers as the Tour agency hosting this programme. It must have been fun traveling with a artiste onboard where he humors you with his jokes, whats happening in his life and so on. I believe that he will also bring out that boyish and playful mood into his tour leading as well. From his blog entry, i knew that he was unwell and sick before his due travels and was also sick whilst on that trip, poor boy. But he recovered and continued with all the love and patience given during the trip by all those friendly and loving tour passengers.

From the looks of his travel blog in Tassie. I came to know of Cradle mountain, a lovely place full of greenery, endless streams, backdrops of mountains and lakes, a stay at the Cradle Mountain Lodge which was quaint on the outside and modern on the inside was what Bryan described his stay there and even a real fire place in the room. Maybe one day i will travel to Aussie and get to visit Cradle Mountain as well.

I think i have traveled alot during my youth and still yearns to travel a bit at times to relieve that stress built up inside me. The experts say that one need to travel and get out of their own country at least one every month but i think that will be a expensive stress relief technique to go for and to do it every month.

Last year during Christmas period, i gave to my God Sister's children some toys as Christmas gifts, although i did not know whether they liked their gifts, i know that if the mum has chosen for them, i believe in their mum's choices. I have a staff whom is a professional Scuba Diver himself and often boast about the diving destinations that he has been with. He is now working with a diving company and together with the Dive master and himself, they will go about a diving expedition together with some of their students as well.

My good friend showintale was the one responsible for Mr Angel's becoming of today!!! She lead me into the blogsphere environment and here am i actually addicted to it.
